2010 Singles Tennis Ladder

Once again the VTA will be offering our very popular singles tennis ladder for the summer. Playing on the ladder in great way to stay in shape, meet new friends and hitting partners and a way to improve your singles game.

To join the singles ladder, you must be a VTA member and you need to indicate on your registration form that you’re interested in participating. There is a $5 additional cost to join the ladder.

Singles Ladder 2010


The Basics

- All abilities are welcome
- You will be placed in a division of approximately 11 or 12 players with similar ability
- Arrange matches with any or all players in your division
- Match time and location should be mutually decided
- A one time fee of $5 applies to all participants
- Players may join the ladder at the start of any session
- All communication to ladder@vtatennis.ca

Session 1 : April 26 to May 23  Reporting Deadline May 25

Scoring
- Match format should be agreed to by both players. A full match (best of 3 sets) or pro-set (first to 8 games)
- Receive 3 points for a win or 1 participation point for a loss
- At session end, top 4 players move up one division and bottom 4 players move down.
- A no show (15 minute grace period) or < 24 hours notice for cancellation of a scheduled match will gives your opponent a victory
- The winner is responsible for reporting results via email to ladder@vtatennis.ca
- Division winners for each session will be recognized
- When report your score, please state your Division.

Etiquette
- Exercise common courtesy by returning phone calls and emails promptly
- Arrive with a fresh can of tennis balls and agree on handling of court fees/ball costs
- If you become injured or are temporarily out of town, inform your fellow players
- Play frequently, it’s better to have several shorter format matches than only one 3 set marathon during a single session
- If you cannot play for the majority of one session, inform the ladder coordinator to remove your name (you may re-join for the subsequent session). It’s better to take time off than to not play matches and move down a division
- After each session, if you do not play any matches, your name will be taken off the list for the next session unless the ladder coordinator has been contacted
